I have been thinking about what I could do, personally, to help generate awareness for the foundation. And I'm sure you've all noticed that we are smack in the middle of an election year. It seems like in order to get any press in this country you have to run for President.

So I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.

Unfortunately, the Constitution says you have to be 35 years old. Nevermind the fact that I'm 26 and was never supposed to live past ten. Now they tell me I have to be 35?!

But I'm not someone who is easily stopped. So let me rephrase. I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States... in the year... 2020.

I'll be over 35 in 2020. And don't worry, I intend to still be around. I'm not going anywhere!

So let me be the inspiration to all of the young people who are now living with life-threatening illnesses. For those of you who have been told you have no future, never let that stop you from creating one. For those of you who have been told the battle will be impossible, I am living proof that nothing is impossible. I am counting on your vote in 2020. I believe you'll be here, even if you're not supposed to.

John F. Kennedy once spoke of standing on the edge of a new frontier. Well, tonight, I believe we stand at the edge of a new day. A day in which medical science continues to advance and the Cameron Siemers Foundation for Hope is flooded with Life Grant applications. When we have a full staff available to support our courageous winners as they transform the world and inspire others through service. A day when we can shine a light on the difficulties that face young adults with life-threatening illnesses and challenge the policies that discourage them from following their dreams.

One of the hallmarks of a presidential campaign is to establish broad goals. The kind that you have no idea how you'll actually reach. So in that spirit, I am declaring that by January 1, 2020, we will have Centers for Hope in every major city. A Center for Hope will be a place that offers support and counsel to young adults with life threatening illnesses. A place they can go to connect with their peers, explore a potential career, build a resume, volunteer to help others, and apply for a Life Grant... In other words, a home away from home that helps them make their transition into adulthood and create what they want their lives to be about.

No doubt this is probably the earliest Presidential announcement in history. And who knows what our future holds. But tonight you can ensure that the next generation of young adults with life-threatening illnesses have a program designed to give them purpose and to help create a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

I invite you to pick up a campaign button, participate in the silent auction, buy a raffle ticket, or make a donation. For every contribution of $25 or more, you'll receive a campaign poster autographed by yours truly.

And remember to tell everyone you know of a foundation that inspires hope where there is none. That creates possibility where life itself seems impossible. My friends, I can promise you will find great satisfaction in knowing you played an important part in supporting our cause and making dreams like Rachel's come true. Together, we can make a world of difference.

Thank you. And God Bless America.
